Our planet moves fast… people move even faster, making it almost impossible to catch up. The world of Translation is not the exception, translation is needed in industries such as legal, manufacturing, scientific research, financial, software, medical, insurance, tourism and travel, automotive, IT, patents, real estate… even video games and websites!
It does not matter if someone you know is bilingual, has a college degree or is addicted to the internet; translation requires a specific mindset and understanding of the situation. Professional translation requires knowledge, culture and experience. Transnational companies, banks, universities, hospitals, accounting and law firms ; they all have their own protocols, and when it comes to translation, they require certain standards, structures and vocabulary. These standards, structures and vocabularies are not being posted online or shared publicly; it takes time and effort to find them, understand them and embrace them… this is what real translators do!.
There are so many translation companies out there, and most of these companies hire people based on their “translation program” or “school for translators” recruitment standards. To be fair, they do a good job… but the market demands talented people who have made a living in the industry, and it is even better if they also have made a name for themselves, know their way around, and still have friends in certain companies (experience). Many linguists will be able to translate the word “state” into many different languages; but only a minority will be able to quote Max Weber and truly understand the meaning of the word (culture). Some of the first translators-interpreters were wanderers, people who observed and learned, thus being able to move between worlds without losing their true-self and purpose; this is what we bring to your project (knowledge).
